The Garden Gate

I would like to nominate this lovely 19th century, dog-friendly, vibrant pub at the heart of South End green as an Asset of Community Value. The Garden Gate, with its beautiful garden, excellent food - including special Sunday roasts and BBQs at weekends - is popular all year round with Hampstead locals and many visitors who arrive at the Overground station yards away, either to walk on the Heath or to visit loved ones in the Royal Free Hospital. The pub is a vital part of the local community. It hosts the South End Green Association meetings every Thursday; regular jazz nights to showcase local bands and "Bumps Night Out" for new mums and expectant bumps every other Monday. It supports various local charities. The pub is particularly loved for its special Doggy Days which it runs in conjunction with the charity All Dogs Matter. Numerous combinations of two legs and four enjoy the dog accessory market in the garden and the bars, inside and outside. Their recent Valentine's Day Walk gave customers the chance to pay the charity to walk lonely rescue dogs. I ask for the pub to be protected by an ACV. Karen George
