Have your say on new Hampstead CIL projects

In 2016 and again last year, we asked for your help in choosing which new projects in Hampstead you would like to be funded by Camden. Your answers were the most vital element in subsequent decisions by Councillors. Now, we are asking for your opinions on a new set of projects. Please let us know what you think by taking the short survey via the link below.

The money comes from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), a tax on developers. It must be spent on infrastructure projects that help to meet the needs of the local community. Local councillors have the final say in allocating the funds, in consultation with neighbourhood forums and local communities. The Hampstead Neighbourhood Forum is carrying out this third survey after receiving a strong response from more than 400 people last year.

Hampstead Town ward was allocated more than £700,000 for infrastructure projects. Money has already been spent on the projects that proved popular in our earlier surveys. For example, it helped with the renovation of Burgh House and funded a new kitchen for the Hampstead Community Centre. The facilities at one of the dementia wards at the Royal Free Hospital were significantly improved, and Keats Community Library was able to acquire new books and equipment.

Other projects, approved but not yet completed, include providing new toilets at Keats House, opening up the public garden in Oriel Place and improving the street lighting in South End Green.

A substantial proportion of the money allotted to Hampstead Town ward remains to be spent. The Hampstead Neighbourhood Forum has been in frequent contact with local groups and Councillors and has worked with them to build the list of projects that we are including in the survey. We are asking your opinion about eight new proposals, each of which is summarised in the survey.

You can support as many or as few as you like. Your views will really help Councillors to make decisions on what to fund. All the proposals will be subject to scrutiny of costs and plans, to the receipt of any necessary approvals, and to eventual decisions by Camden Council.

Please complete the survey by Monday 12 November 2018, and please help us to analyse the results by adding your postcode and email address. However, the survey is anonymous and the information will not be used for any other purpose.

If you want to ask the Forum any questions, or if you have any comments on the survey itself, or if you are not a Forum member and would like to join, please email [email protected].

It will only take a couple of minutes. Your views count. We will report back on the results soon.

Thank you very much.
